“X” posts from category 1

I could be missing something, but I’m trying to get all of the posts from 1 category to show on the main page. I basically want to lay the front page out like so:

FEATURED story (category 1) – only 1 post shows from category 1 (full length)
______

OTHER stories (category 2) – all the post excerpts from category 2

Is it pretty easy to do? Let me know if I don’t make any sense.
