As the title says I would like that new WordPress release include a wysiwyg editor and a featured image for category, tag and custom taxonomies. I think it will help to make archive pages more beautiful and easy to create also for clients ;)

You can add a wysiwyg editor to the taxonomy terms pages. Look at the wp_editor() function. Also you can use the action hooks edit_term_form and create_term_form to add your own fields to the terms pages.

Oh wp_editor is new to me!
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_editor

Looking at the function I don't understand how/where to set the editor for a taxonomy
$content, $editor_id and $settings don't seem to include this option... Can you copy/paste some line of example code so I can understand better?

    Thank you very much :)
