www.domain.com vs domain.com in 3.0-RC1 (2 posts)

    In setting up Network: http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress3/wp-admin/network.php

"We recommend you change your siteurl to mydomain.com before enabling the network feature. It will still be possible to visit your site using the www prefix with an address like http://www.mydomain.com but any links will not have the www prefix."

But I have in my .htaccess the following:

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mydomain\.com$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.mydomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

With this in place, I must have site_url http://www.mydomain.com/wordpress3 (not, as suggested, mydomain.com) or get a message the page is redirecting in a way that will never resolve.

  2. The simplest answer is to remove that from your .htaccess and just use domain.com, sans www.

If you have to use www, per this: http://wpmututorials.com/hacks/forcing-mu-to-use-www/ 3.0 does NOT strip out www, so just do what you want :)
