Hey WP'ers... I have updated a site which I formerly used a homegrown XML/XSLT solution to create blog entries to use WP.
http://www.ww2hero.com is a series of letters and journals written by my grandfather, an Air Corps navigator, while flying over Europe during WWII.
The only WP section is "letters" ... the rest of the site was created with my old homegrown solution. Eventually I will move all the "journal" posts into WP.
I had one major issue with the setup... my site is hosted on a Windows server (I <i>like</i> IIS and ASP), but PHP on Windows doesn't support dates prior to 1970. Since all the entries are from the 1940's I had to replace all the date() and mktime() (and the rest) functions with the adodb-time library.
Anyone who has a minute to check it out and tell me what you think, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! And if you really like it, Ted (the subject & author of the site) would love to get an email from you... you'd truly make an old man's day!

Only the "Letters" section is right now.

What a great idea. Even though it's not fully a WordPress blog, it remains a great idea.

Jdunavin- Thanks for the kind words... eventually I will migrate everything and it will be a full WP blog, but for now, I am focused on updating the one "letters" section. There are more letters than you woud believe. All of the static stuff (everything other than the letters section) has been up for over a year, so there isn't too much urgency to change it.
I'm still trying to determine the best way to use WP to do things like different formatting for different categories, and how to create a non-blog "story" or "article".
Just fixing WP to handle the necessary date range was a pretty big hack, I also modified the "write new post" page so the date was available all the time and up top for easy access. WP is terrific since I can play around with the program and modify it until it is exactly how I need it to be.
