• RANT #1 WTF??

I’m told that updating your version keeps you on top of security but it only leads to more work!!

    Rant over….

I followed another thread that suggested uploading the new prettyphoto version, but that is not working…Theme is now broken as well (homepage and all pages with pprettyphoto….

The biggest attraction was the fact that I had a “touchscreen” look to my site…now it’s all broken

You can see it at http://www.captivatebymobile.com

Tried disabling plugins and reactivating them…no luck

Does anyone have some suggestions or at the very least an alternatives to prettyphoto?

    Any help would be apprectiated…

    Rant #2
Note to WP developers…I appreciate the good work…but everyone who enjoys WP is not an uber programmer, coder, or developer…some of us are just plain ol’marketers, business owners who want to make a living, keep their business facade running, and help others with this incredible tool….could you consider this when making future adjustments!

BTW…What happened to the Appearance and Plugin Editors? Some of us use this diligently to fine tune and solve issues in themes…would like to see it back…now have to go through ftp for everything….This is horrible…put it back!!!!

    Rant 2 over

Yes, running a website is work.

Always check that your theme is compatible with the latest and greatest WPs before you upgrade, especially with a major release. IF your BUSINESS runs on WP, this should be part of your CYA before upgrading. Just roll this into your process and be aware that the one person responsible for testing that YOUR site works right is you. WP can’t test everything (a few million people use WP, and only a few hundred are having problems).

And make BACKUPS before you upgrade. Always. Every day, actually, if your site requires WP. This is, again, a CYA manuver 🙂 Protect yourself!

Your site loads for a moment and then vanishes. Flip to the default (twenty ten) theme for a moment and verify that it IS your theme having the problem, and not plugins. Then, if it’s the theme, contact the dev of the theme ASAP and report this.
