[resolved] Wrong thumbnail when sharing post on Facebook (5 posts)

    Website: http:www.obscura.ws

Hello, this is my issue: each post I write has a default image, but when I share the article on Facebook (or I press the "Like" or "Send" buttons), it gets shared with the wrong thumbnail image, specifically Facebook chooses one of the one shown on CRP.

It's the same either with TimThumb enabled or not.

Any idea on how can I fix it?

Facebook does its own thing when sharing articles. It scans the page the page and presents you with a list of thumbnails to select.

This doesn't have anything to do with CRP.

I'm sorry, perhaps I've not been clear enough on my details explanation: you are allowed to choose what pic to use on sharing ONLY when you copy/paste the link of your article on Facebook page, but when you click on "Like" from your homepage (mine is this) or from each single post, Facebook scans and decides by itself, showing ONLY one of the images from CRP plugin.

What I'm looking for is a way to force OGM to select images not coming from CRP plugin when clicking on "Like" in the above mentioned conditions.

That's it, if anybody found a way, I'd be very pleased to know HOW..

Since the total lack of help/support I've fixed things by myself in the end.
It seems that OGP only likes thumbnails which dimensions are the same or more than 200px. If you upload an image and set it as thumbnail (which dimensions are, by WP default, 150x150 pixels) you're going to get an error message if you run your post's link into the FB debugger like this:

Open Graph Warnings That Should Be Fixed

Small og:image: All the images referenced by og:image should be at least 200px in both dimensions. Please check all the images with tag og:image in the given url and ensure that it meets the recommended specification.

So I manually enlarged an image into one of my previous posts to the actual 200x200 pixel size and tadadah!!! Facebook shares the proper link and proper image also from WP homepage or single post.

Frons, as I mentioned earlier, it has nothing to do with the plugin.

I have no experience on how Facebook selects information from a page.

Since you posted in this posted this under the plugin support forum, it is unlikely that general WordPress / Facebook knowledgeable persons would respond since this forum is for plugin support issues only.

However, I am glad you've been able to figure this out, since it does form as a guide to all others facing a similar problem.
