WPtouch suddenly stopped working (8 posts)

    Hi.

I had installed WPtouch for my website and it was working happily away. However, today it is now not working correctly and the site is now displaying with a wordpress mobile look and feel as opposed to the far better WPtouch. Have checked it on Android and iPhone and get the same behaviour on both.

    WordPress version: 3.4.2
    WPtouch version: 1.9.5.3

I haven't changed anything on the website itself or in the WP touch settings between yesterday and today.

    Can you please investigate?

We'd be happy to. Please post a url where we can see this issue and we'll take a look.

If you've recently installed any plugins or themes, you may want to deactivate them and retest. We recommend clearing all caches, including your device data, and deactivate caching plugins before testing.

From your source code, I don't see WPtouch is active on your site. I can't say what may have happened in your installation or on your server but have you tried reinstalling WPtouch? Your settings will be saved in your database.

Follow good practice and deactivate other plugins while you make changes.

I had this happen to a site and did the following things to fix it. Not sure if all of theme were necessary, but it worked.

    1) Change the front page setting to a random page (not the home page or the one set in WP General Reading Settings)
    2) Disabled all other plugins
    3) Switched to TwentyEleven theme
    4) Manually upgraded to 1.9.5.3 (because of the bug that's preventing automatic updates). Completely removed old directory and checked out a fresh copy of the latest.
    5) Disabled the '1st visit gets desktop version' option

After that it started working again, so I re-enabled the custom theme and re-activated all the plugins, reset the home page option, and it still works.

@ andymcgeady, it looks like you are using another mobile solution on your website at this time. Please activate WPtouch and let us know if you would like us to take another look.

Thanks for the info Ian! It may be helpful to others experiencing the same.

    Hi.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

WPtouch is definitely installed - in fact I've deleted it and reinstalled it.

Oddly, when I changed the "front page" WPtouch setting to the About page, the mobile site was indeed directed to the About site. Just without the WPtouch theme!

I'm hugely confused by the whole thing. Just don't understand why it was working perfectly and then just *stopped*.

Is there anything you can do to investigate it?

    Andy.

    Hi Andy,

It looks like you're not using JetPack's mobile theme. If you still want us to take a look please activate WPtouch. Thanks.
