wpsc-products_page.php: how to remove the shopping cart information from the top

I am trying to customize the [wpsc-products] shortcode to display a list of products, for a particular category, in three div’s per column with the product name followed by the thumbnail image, space about 20 pixels apart. Clicking on the name or the image would take the user to the product detail page. Here is my problem, I modified the wpsc-products_page.php file and the formatting seems to be working, however, the shopping cart status information keeps displaying above the product listing. How can I make the shopping cart information stop displaying without using css(display none or visibility hidden)? I only want the products to display. This is a very confusing issue and I have not been able to find any documentation to help.
