WPMU Install: How Does The Search Engine Submission Work? (6 posts)

OK, so I have installed WPMU and I would love to know the following:

When a new blog is being created, and you scroll down to the bottom of the page, it says:

    "Privacy
I would like my blog to appear in search engines like Google and Technorati, and in public listings around this site."

How exactly is WPMU submitting these new blogs and how does it do it automatically? I noticed on Google's Add URL page it has a captcha box on the bottom:
    http://www.google.com/addurl/
That's why I am curious - how could a bot bypass that?
And any idea how it submits to Technorati and "in public listings around this site"?

Because I am seeing these WPMU blogs getting some traffic from the SERPS and would like to know more on how it is done.
    Thanks!

Advice- If your install is on a new domain why would you want to "submit" When you physically submit to google your site has a tendancy of being thrown into sand box if it is new and set there for 6 months. However with WP when you publish it pings out naturally and your post can usually be indexed within minutes if the content is unique. Post often and post unique relevant content. The spiders will do the rest.

When registering a new domain register it for 2 years minimum. 1 year to google = not sure if you are serious
2 years or more = you will be here for a while and you are serious ;)

What do you mean "when WP publishes it pings out naturally"? How does it do this? :)

    Thanks for the info!

WordPress sends a ping to various update services which track new blog content and organize it by category. It's just another way to get noticed.
