I setup a wordpress multi user site. The main index page show the http://www.domain.com however all pages and posts go directly to the username.domain.com.
    Example
    http://www.usainsuanceonline.com

Is it possible to make changes to where the subdomain is not seen, via htaccess, domain mapping changes etc? I need a reasonable solution that is SEO friendly

  2. When you mapped the domain to the site, did you check the box that says "Primary domain"?

Yes. Primary is checked on each domain. I'm pretty sure it was checked when setting up. URL Correction: http://usainsuranceonline.com

  4. List out the other steps you did, as something is either misse dor not done right.

Did you follow all these steps?

OK! I got it. I had to log in as the site admin, then got to:
SUPER ADMIN > SITES then edit each domain to show domain.com instead of username.domain.com in the "DOMAIN http://: slot.

    Thanks for the help!

Got another problem now. Some of the subdomains are listed on the search engines. When I changed to primary domain I get a 404 back to the main site from the subdomains. Not good to have thousands of 404 pages at one time.
    eg: http://autoinsuranceandcalifornia.mywpblogs.info

I added a rewrite to the .htaccess file

    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} doublediscountcheck\.mywpblogs\.info
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.doublediscountcheck.com/$1 [R=301,L]

However only the main subdomain is redirected. Any other pages still 404. Can you help me find the correct coding? Thanks a bunch.

  7. That's because you edited out the original subdomain....

That's correct. Know of any good 301 redirect solution?

  9. Without editing out the original subdomain, the domain mapping plugin handled the redirects for you. when set up properly.
