WPG2 Validation Failing

I cannot get wpg2 validation to complete, as it always stops on step 5, the “Gallery2 Version Compatible?” check. What is weird is that the error message below (“WPG2 plugin requires at least Gallery2 version 2.2, Gallery2 reports you are running version”) does not actually display a version number. I’ve tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling both wordpress and gallery2. I’m attempting to run wp 2.6.2 and gallery 2.2.5, though I’ve tried versions of wp back to 2.5 without any luck. I’ve even deleted and recreated the mysql db’s, without any success.
