Was wondering if you could help: I tried to edit wp.config.php code to fix strange characters showing up in wordpress blog postings (through Dreamweaver) and when I uploaded to the server (through ftp) our blog shut down and on our website now says: Unable to open RSS Feed feed=rss2 with error HTTP ERROR: 500, exiting.. When I try to log into wordpress admin – I get: Error establishing a database connection This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.
I checked my log ins and saved again and tried to upload and server is showing Connection failed in transfer log. Is this a problem with the server or my connection with ftp because the rest of the website is still running except the blog – or is it an issue with wordpress – or do I need to do something to the wp.config.php? I know its probably a simple fix, but....
