• i did this last night: http://wordpress.org/support/3/11150 .
afterwards, everything was fine for several hours. i continued making changes to some static pages on another part of the site. when i checked the site this morning, i got an error that the wp_posts table was missing. the static pages that i changed were fine, in the sense that they had the changes made after i working on the database file. also, the test table that i uploaded was still up. is there a reason why a table would get dropped like that?

  • I would guess that the server rebooted overnight and reverted to an earlier state causing a data loss. Just my 2c.

i asked my host about it, and the response was “we don’t know why this happened…better keep a back up”.
