wp_pagenavi plugin example please (can’t get the plugin to work)

    Can some one explain how to install wp_pagenavi
    I got the plugin in my plugin dir

    the only problem is that I dont know how to put it in my index.php file

    can you give me an example of how you would add
    <?php wp_pagenavi(); ?> to an index.php file

    thanks I am not a programmer
