wp_login attempts from unknown IP addresses (2 posts)

    Hi,

I noticed login attempts to the following URLs on my website on a daily basis. Fortunately, Better WP Security defeats this but I am wondering about them.

When I see these pages requested in my server logs from foreign IP addresses, are they all suspicious? Or is there ever a legitimate reason a third party would attempt to access these areas of my site?

    /wp-login.php
    /wp-admin/post-new.php
    /wp-login.php?registration=disabled
    /wp-login.php?action=register

Also, what does someone who is banned from my website see when they attempt to load my URL?

You should ban them instantly and use 'Enable Default Banned List' under the 'Ban' tab.

The chances are very low that they are search engine bots. Though you should check those IPs. Or you can share those IPs here.
