   Everytime I try to upgrade my plugins automatically, this is the page that I will get:

   Downloading update from http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/sociable.2.6.5.zip

   Unpacking the update

   Could not create directory

   I'm on WP 2.5, running on IIS and wp is installed at website/wordpress
   would appreciate if someone could help me out here.

   Could not create directory

   That's the key phrase there. Seemingly the permission on your server are set so that the script cannot create a directory for the uploaded files.
   Talk to your host about it.

   I was having the could not create directory issue, I took a gamble and deleted the upgrade folder and then tried again to upgrade with success! I don't know if that helps anyone else but worked for me.
