I’ve just upgraded to WordPress 2.5. While the overall design is a large step back, there are two major deal-breaking issues, and I’ll likely be migrating back to WP2.3 if I cannot get these resolved. These issues manifest themselves on Firefox 2.0.0.13 on Windows Vista/32. There are no Ad-blocking or Script-blocking extensions enabled.

-Ctrl+K, the universal shortcut on Windows for creating a hyperlink, does not seem to work any longer. What is the new shortcut?
-When I click the create new link icon in the toolbar, I get a completely blank dialog box with only an X in the upper right corner. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

Basically, I cannot link to anything unless I edit the HTML manually.

This won’t help directly, but I am experiencing the same behavior. I just upgraded my site, and I am unable to edit hyperlinks with the dialog box — it just comes up empty as you described, and I have to edit the HTML manually. I have the same system configuration, Firefox running on Vista.

Does anyone else see this, and more importantly have you identified a fix?

    Thank you in advance!

There doesn’t seem to be a good explanation of why this happens, but apparently clearing your browser’s cache works. Not sure why this happens.

Alternatively, you could try using, as I did, Windows Live Writer. It’s the only thing that’s stopping me from moving to a Mac – it’s that good.

Oh yes – here’s the other forum on where this conclusion came up: WP 2.5 – WYSIWIG Problem – Can not ‘Insert Link’
