Greetings
I have installed WordPress via Fantastico (cPanel) to the default location which is the www directory (or public_html) on a site. The default setting for the WordPress address is http://fvms.ca.
I can view the site with no issues by typing http://www.fvms.ca into my browser address bar - as can a number of people I have asked re testing the site.
However I have had one individual say he cannot get the address to resolve when entering http://www.fvms.ca - I had to get him to type in http://fvms.ca (he's on a PC - WinXP, MSIE 7.0) If I change the URL address under Options-General to http://www.fvms.ca he can't see the site at all but either gets a file download prompt or 404 yet, again, I have no problems viewing the site. Site refresh done as well - for both of us.
As I'm a WP noob I would really appreciate any feedback as to this. We have eliminated any other issues (ISP, clear internet cache, ect) and apparently he along with 2 others have this problem.
Many thanks

Update - received some more info - friend accesses http://www.fvms.ca and this actually ends up in a Google Search results page with links to the site plus the WordPress forum topics from my postings on this problem !
What can I do to fix this.....if it's fixable from my end. Or could it be a browser issue?
stumped and stymied
thanks
I dont see anything wrong with either the non-www or the www links.
They both go here: http://fvms.ca/ successfully.
I think your friend cant type, or has a google search-something-or-another extension installed that takes em to google if he mistypes a url. Either way.

That was one of the questions I asked of him - what was installed on his browser and/or Google. Nothing to his knowledge.
Any idea why he gets a 404 if I change the WP URL address designation from http://fvms.ca to http://www.fvms.ca?
It made no difference to me - I get the site either way.
I'll suggest again that he check his browser - wondering if it's a Google toolbar issue.
thanks so much for your input

Acckk, one important point I forgot to make - he can view other sites with no issues that are hosted on the same server/web hosting service. I had him try accessing a news page that I set up on a site using WP (blog-news format in a domain name/blog/ directory) - no problems. I also had him access other blogs hosted on the same service and again no problems.
I'm thinking it's something to do with the way I have installed WP in the www directory - it was done via Fantastico/cPanel into the default location.
Regardless, I can't figure this one out as I have no issues with accessing the site.
