WP uninstalled, database deleted: Feed still showing up. (10 posts)

Is there nothing left to do?

I am trying to get rid of this pesky, persistent feed that is showing up old posts from when I had the domain years ago, plus new posts I've imported when I recently repurchased it.

I have deleted the entire database. I've inserted thousands of blank posts into the database, enough to cover any and every GUID I would have used.

I've created, resynced, and completely deleted feeds in feedburner.

And now I have deleted everything--the entire database--and uninstalled WordPress.

When I did this on another site, the feed completely disappeared.

But it is still there for this site. I don't know what there is left to do. Can anyone help me?

    Where is this feed?

    The domain is ponderingparenting.com

In google reader, if I try to add ponderingparenting.com/feed, it says there isn't one. Same if I enter any of the feedburner feeds I created (and deleted).

BUT, if I just enter ponderingparenting.com, it brings up everything that's ever been on that site. Over 200 posts.

Why? Where is it coming from? How do I get rid of it?

Looks like you're seeing a feed that is in Google own feed archive. You need to ask Google to remove the feed from its archive.

How? Can you actually contact Google? I have been searching, but have no idea how.

And would I need to contact ALL the feedreaders? I know it's showing up in Bloglines too, for instance.

There are contact links for Google if you look around a bit. For example, you can ask for a link to your site to be removed via Google Webmaster. Nit sure that the situation is with RSS feeds as I've never had to ask for a feed to be removed. The problem you're facing is that most search engines and feed aggregation sites maintain their own archives or caches. And it can take a while for old/broken links to be expired.

How long is it since you took the site down?

Well, I took it down the first time over 2 years ago. I don't know if the feed was still there this whole time or not because I never checked. But I just reinstalled WP on it and burned a feed, and found all my old posts. Turns out, I never deleted the database (didn't know I had such a thing!) so all those old things (including posts that were originally posted when my blog was set to private) showed up on the feed.

Last night I uninstalled WP again and deleted everything. Nothing happened. But I did the exact same thing to a different blog domain, and within minutes the old feed was gone from google reader. That's why I don't understand what's going on with this domain.

Anyway, WP is back up again, and I have made a webmaster account with google and will try more things tonight. Though I haven't found any thing about deleting feeds yet.

2 years should be ample time for a feed to expire. I'd expect it to disappear from archives around the 90 day mark at the very most. Even if the db was still around, without the files to actually the relevant posts on demand, none of the links in the old feed should have been reachable.

I'm at a loss to explain how the feed remained "active" in any archives for that period of time.

Well, I think I must have activated it when I reinstalled wordpress on that same domain, and had all the old files still in a database. Even though they weren't officially posted on my site this time around.

So now maybe I need to wait 90 days to let it expire again? But it wouldn't expire if I start posting at that domain again, right?

I just don't get why they disappeared from my other blog as soon as I deleted the database and uninstalled WP there, but it's not working for this one.

The old feed should be replaced by the new, current, feed fairly quickly but as these are all separate archives, the time periods are likely to vary wildly.
