[resolved] "WP to Twitter" Plugin: Troubles Getting Started (3 posts)

    Hi,

I would like my blog posts to automatically post to my Twitter page, so I installed the "WP to Twitter" plugin.

I followed the steps 1 - 4 under "Connect To Twitter" in the plugin's setting page. When I hit the "Connect To Twitter" button I get the error message:

Twitter requires authentication by OAuth. You will need to update your settings to complete installation of WP to Twitter.

    ---
WP to Twitter failed to connect with Twitter. Try switching to an HTTP connection.

I tried clicking on the link to switch to an HTTP connection but the page refreshed at nothing to do with connections.

When I clicked the "Check Support" button I got the new message below, in addition to the original error message above:

WP to Twitter successfully contacted your selected URL shortening service. The following link should point to your blog homepage: http://beforewisdom.com/blog

I have the Twitter Consumer key, Twitter Consumer Secrect, Access Token, & Access Secret fields filled in. I registered my blog in my Twitter account.

Any idea of things to check or try to get the connection between my blog and Twitter going?

    Thanks

    Steve

Switching to HTTP queries is the first thing I recommend you try. I don't know why the link refreshed the page at all; it's an in page link pointing down to the HTTP option in the advanced settings. Scroll down, find the option to switch to HTTP, then try again.

Switching to HTTP did not help.

I did fix the problem with some ideas from the plugin author, who I contacted.

I cranked the permissions ( in Twitter ) up from the second level ( read and write ) to the third level ( read, write and other things ). I then regenerated the keys and put the new keys in.

    That did the trick
