   I was having a problem with my gallery images not staying in order. Rather they appeared in the reverse upload order. Adding orderby= didn't help.

   I deactivated all my plugins and found WP-Sticky was the cause. Once disabled my images appeared in the gallery in the correct order.

   WP-Sticky will conflict with any plugin that also modifying the main WP query. No worries, the sticky feature will be in the core in WP2.7.
