    Hello,

A client has been using the “User Tracker” plugin (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/user-tracker/) but wanted more detailed reports and customizations so we chose to start using SlimStat.

After using SlimStat for a month we’ve noticed differences in the stats recorded by User Tracker and SlimStat.

User Tracker shows users visiting pages on certain dates and SlimStat reports appear to be missing those stats.

For example comparing all the pages viewed by a user in the Month of February do not match up – User Tracker shows page views that SlimStat does not…

So which plugin is recording the right stats? Is User Tracker recording incorrect stats or is SlimStat missing some page visits?

    Thanks,

    b2tech

    Hi there,

is the option to track logged in users enabled, in WP SlimStat? Also, please remember that WP SlimStat only tracks visits to the public site, not your Login screen or the admin (User Tracker does).

If needed, you can contact me at

    Thanks,

Version 3.0 will track visits to the login page, if the corresponding option to track logged in users is enabled.

A vote for my plugin would be a nice way to say thank you!

Thanks for the response. I understand SlimStat can track logged in users. It seems to work great, the custom reporting has been useful as well.

The “issue” is that SlimStat’s user page view reporting is not accurate according to a client who is using the “User Tracker” plugin in addition to SlimStat.

For example User Tracker shows a user “smith” visited 5 pages on Feb. 15th then they visited 2 pages on Feb 25th and 1 page on Feb 28th.

The client expects to see the same page views in the SlimStat reports but only sees that “smith” had 5 visits from Feb 15.

The visits from Feb 25th / 28th appear to have not been tracked by SlimStat. This is the case with approximately 5 out of ~100 users.

So… Why does User Tracker show visits that SlimStat does not?

Is there any way to ensure SlimStat is recording all page views?
Is User Tracker logging incorrect / inaccurate page view stats?

    Thanks,

Are the ones on 2/25 and 2/28 regular pages or the WordPress login page?

The visits on 2/25 / 2/28 are to regular pages AND to pages that require a login to access them (using: WP-Members plugin).

    I’ll look into this.

Also just to note, under Filters – “Track users” is set to “yes” in WP SlimStat.

I’ve reviewed more records and can’t seem to see a pattern. It seems like for the most part the page view stats are identical and then periodically the “User Tracker” plugin reports page views that SlimStat does not…

    Hello,

I was just wondering if there’s been any new info / clues to determine anything that might cause SlimStat to not record a page view?

We are still seeing random missed page views that show up in User Tracker but not in SlimStat. We want to use SlimStat because it works so well, except we can’t if the reporting isn’t accurate.

For example user tracker shows a page view at 2013-03-04 14:04:53
And another view at 2013-03-04 14:04:59

    But SlimStat shows nothing…

Typically these pages have an mp3 included in them, and require a login with WP-Member to access the main content / mp3.

If this helps, here are the other plugins active on the site:

    • Audit Trail
    • ELI’s Custom SQL Reports Admin
    • Exports and Reports
    • Gravity Forms
    • MediaElement.js – HTML5 Audio and Video
    • Per Page Widgets
    • Sidebar & Widget Manager
    • Sucuri Security
    • User Tracker
    • WordPress Media
    • WP-Members
    • WP SlimStat
    • WP SlimStat Dashboard Widgets

Would you be available to test the new version and see if it solves the problem?

    Camu,

I am seeing a similar situation. I’m on SlimStat 2.9.5 and WP 3.5.1 I also have the Counterize plugin running and it sees many other users hitting my site over SlimStat. I don’t have filters set and I’m not running any Caching plugins. Any help is appreciated.

Drew, is JavaScript mode enabled in SlimStat?

    Camu,

Yes it is. I will disable it and compare again.

Okay cool, because that could make a big difference, indeed.
