    Hello,

My wife is launching a new business that will have several thousand products when completed. It will be for physical products (not digital downloads) and needs to be able to handle shipping and taxes in the United States.

Anyone have suggestions on the best WP shopping cart that can handle that size store?

    Thanks,
    Bryan

Shopp (shopplugin.net) can handle as many products as WordPress can posts, though I think the same could be said of the other solutions as well (WP e-commerce, Jigoshop, WooCommerce). They all also have support for handling shipping and taxes.

Your mileage will likely vary greatly in terms of how well any one of them will fit your exact workflow and needs. Shopp has integration with TaxCloud (taxcloud.net) so you can outsource your tax collection problems for all 17K+ tax jurisdictions in the US. Shopp also has complete integration for ShipWire (shipwire.com) to outsource order fulfillment and warehousing/inventory. If you want to take care of fulfillment and inventory in-house, you can still do that as well. Most of the stuff to do that comes with the plugin. Hope it gives you at least some good guidance.

Hi Jon, thanks so much for the suggestions! I'll be sure to check Shopp out as I like the TaxCloud integration option.

Anyone else have some suggestions on plugins you've used that can handle a few thousand products?

Full disclosure Bryan, I'm the lead dev on Shopp, so I am biased ;)

WooCommerce works well if you also like the themes that plug into it.

jon is right about Shopp - I've always been impressed.

I'd stay away from WP eCommerce. I know they have a ton of fans - but I've found it to need much too much customization and duct tape to make it work just right.

Despite being a huge WordPress fan - I am curious about any reason you're steering away from the out of the box solutions like Shopify / BigCommerce?

Thanks Nate. I'm a WP ninja so it's easy for me to support my wife with issues. Thanks for your feedback!
