Fkn WP search function - WTF!?

Okay, so I have a site I'm building that heavily relies on the user being able to search for posts by keyword. The problem is, barely any of the pages I've created will show up in the search results when queried by the respective keyword.

    For instance...

    http://www.houston-eats.com/the-woodlands-area-restaurants exists in WP

http://www.houston-eats.com/?s=the+woodlands is what I get when "the woodlands" is searched for

What the heck is going on here?

A few pages (rarely) work though, like...

http://www.houston-eats.com/?s=clear+lake actually pulls up the right post when "clear lake" is queried in the search.

I'm totally baffled and hopefully someone can help. Thanks!

p.s. - I've turned off UltimateTagWarrior p-i because I heard it causes search problems, but I'm still having the same issues.

UTW doesn't cause search problems. That's just silly.

Speaking of searching... as you searched these support forums, did you read that the WP search only searches Posts, not Pages? Fortunately, that same search will turn up quite a few plugins that extend search functionality to pages as well. :-)

Yeah I'm aware that WP is configured out of the box to search posts only. All my pages are technically posts in WP :-) I haven't written any page pages yet, only posts.

Your search seems to work fine for me.

Your theme's search.php page only shows the titles of articles found -- is that intentional? I'd think you'd rather show titles and posts.

Yes the search runs queries, but the results are terrible. I've illustrated this point in my original post, searching for something I know exists will bring up totally irrelevant results.

I have my search result excerpts truncated on purpose.

I installed search reloaded plugin by semiologic and edited it to search titles of posts only, and now my search is actually useful.

***issue solved by adding "search reloaded" plugin and having it search titles only!***
