    Love WP-Polls!!!

However, trying to set up another website and my old website has a WP-Polls Widget plugin and I can't see that anywhere to load into the new website.

How did I get it in my older WP installation? I'd like to have the polls in a widget.

    Thanks for a great plug-in.

Then when I try to uninstall, the following happens:

Setting Key 'poll_template_voteheader' has been deleted.

Setting Key 'poll_allowtovote' has been deleted.
Setting Key 'poll_archive_show' has been deleted.
Setting Key 'poll_archive_url' has been deleted.
Setting Key 'poll_bar' has been deleted.
Setting Key 'poll_close' has been deleted.
Setting Key 'poll_ajax_style' has been deleted.
Setting Key 'poll_template_pollarchivelink' has been deleted.
    Error deleting Setting Key 'widget_polls'.

Do you have any clue why I'm having problems to activate the widget?

    Thank you!!

It is having error because the widget field setting does not exist, yiu can ignore it.

You need to activate the WP-Polls Widget Plugin AND WP-Polls Plugin

    Yes.

I activated the plug-in with no problems... but when I go to the widget's section, there is nothing about WP-Polls to be activated... just the other widgets I already have.

I also changed my theme to the default one, went there, and nothing happened...

I don't know what I may be doing wrong since I've done this process of activating widgets a lot, and they show in there...

You need to activate BOTH the WP-Polls Widget Plugin AND WP-Polls Plugin IN the Plugin Management Page

I feel so dumb now hehehe I thought we should activate the widget in the widget section, but it's in the plug- in section. Everything is working fine now, thank you!!!!

    Similar problem here.

I updated WP-Polls and now my WP-Poll Widget plugin no longer exists.

Looking in the plugin section in my admin area there is only the WP-Polls but no WP-Polls Widget.

Why would upgrading the widgeted delete it?

WP-Polls Widget Plugin has been merged with the WP-Polls Plugin, so there is no need to activate 2 plugin anymore. If you activate WP-Polls plugins, the WP-Polls Widget should also appear in your Widgets page. You may need to re-add the widget as WP2.8 changes the Widget structure.

I am running into the same problem, but am using WordPress Version 2.9.1 and the most recent poll plug-in. When I install the poll plug-in the poll shows up in the sidebar by default, but the formatting is incorrect. When I add the poll widget to the sidebar, the formatting is correct, but the original plug-in is still there! Here's a link to the site, so you can see what I'm talking about: http://www.faucethead.com/blog/. I don't want two polls displayed on the sidebar. I just want the widget to be shown since the formatting is consistent. Any help asap would be great!
    Thanks in advance!

Uninstall WP-Polls, and delete the whole folder. Re-download the pluginb and activate it again

Thanks for your response. I have tried doing what you mentioned above, uninstalling and re-installing, but am still having the same problem. On the plugin website it under 'Usage' it says:

    1. Go to 'WP-Admin -> Appearance -> Widgets'.
    2. You can add the Polls Widget by clicking on the 'Add' link besides it.
    3. After adding, you can configure the Polls Widget by clicking on the 'Edit' link besides it.
    4. Click 'Save Changes'.

I have tried doing this but with the newest version of wordpress the adding of widgets is a drag and drop thing rather than 'Add'-ing widgets feature.

I think the problem is arising because as soon as I activate the plugin it adds a poll to the sidebar. That's the "•Polls. Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment. Polls Archive" stuff that is showing up. Then when I add the widget, which looks great, the plugin stuff is still visible. Any other ideas would be great. I really want to incorporate polls as a widget on my site.

    Thank you in advance.

One more thing. I tried deleting and re-installing the plugin a few more times just to make sure and ran into another issue. When I install the plugin using the dashboard in wp, rather than putting the files on the server myself, a warning pops up that says "The plugin does not have a valid header" when I try to activate after the install. Do you know why this would be? Or if this is part of the problem affecting the layout?

    No idea on that error.

You may want to Uninstall the plugin via WP-Admins -> Polls -> Uninstall Polls. After that delete the whole /wp-content/plugins/wp-polls/ folder.

If it still does not work, try the default theme.

I tried it with the default theme and the polls seem to be working fine. I will get in touch with the creator of my theme and let you know if any other questions arise.
    Thanks so much.

I have been in touch with the creator of my theme and he asked to check with you if there is any kind of hook that inserts the poll code automatically in the sidebar, without the widget being live. What's happening is as soon as I activate the poll it puts in that copy reading "•Polls. Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment. Polls Archive" automatically. Is there a way to stop this from happening in the code?

Nope, the poll can only be added in 2 ways, via widget or PHP Code. It will not auto insert into the sidebar.

Your theme might be using an older way of display WP Widgets? As the widget system did get revamped in 2.8 and wp-polls 2.50 is using the new way.

Also check if you got a plugin called WP-Polls Widget because prior to 2.50, WP-Polls comes with 2 plugins, WP-Polls Plugin and WP-Polls Widget Plugin. In 2.50 onwards, it is all merge into one, just WP-Polls Plugin.

Thanks for your response. I checked and I have wp-polls 2.50, the most recent one where the plug-in and widget are merged. I will get in touch with the theme author and see if he has any other ideas. Thanks again.

Hello I installed the plugin created a poll, put the poll in mysidebar, the poll is showing, however when I tested it, it doesn't work, IE8 throws a javascript object expected error. I have NextGen Gallery installed, do you think the two plugins isn't compatible with each other?

NextGen should be compatible with WP-Polls, did you try on the default theme with no other plugins enabled beside WP-Polls and NextGen?
