wp-photos install..?

Is there a better tutorial available for wp-photos install? I tried installing it two different times using the included readme file, but both times it hasn’t worked. I don’t get any errors, and the tables create, but there isn’t any way to implement the photo gallery, and none of the edit photos links appear.
