Support » Installing WordPress » WP on Windows 2008 R2, Web Platform, Web Matrix?

  • Hi,

I’m at the beginning of a project to use WordPress (and BuddyPress) as the foundation for an improved business intranet. The current intranet is ASP.Net based, and the resulting improved intranet will use both ASP.net and WP/BP. I have a couple of questions if someone would be kind enough to reply.

First, the current intranet, while using ASP.Net, uses MySQL for the database. I’d like to stay with the MySQL database. I was looking at the Microsoft Web Platform, as I’ve learned that it is the best way to install PHP and WordPress on Windows Server 2008 R2. What is not clear to me is this install process allows for a MySQL database, or if I It requires a Windows Database of some kind. If anyone can provide any info on that, it would certainly be helpful.

    Thank you,
