I've installed WP on "www.freespiritsmusic.com/here" but when I login I see a "404 PAGE NOT FOUND" page from Hostgator. I cannot get to the install page!

I am forwarding the URL from my old site on WordPress.com. When I just type in "freespiritsmusic.com" I get the wordpress.com site. The nameservers have correctly been forwarded.

So, I started over and installed WP again. Still nothing. I followed WP directions on manual install, still nothing.

Any suggestions on how to get to the install?! Thank you!

Where exactly did you install wordpress in public_html or folder in public_html When I go to freespiritsmusic.com takes to hostgator page so there must be a place holder in public_html folder you need to delete or rename the file.

Hostgator techs are usually extremely helpful on the telephone and the phone support is free. You could just give them a call to help you sort out the problem. Good luck.

    Everything is working fine.

The login page is not 404.

    Check out the link yourself.

Did you use the autoinstaller or did you install through a FTP?

To redirect from root of website to the subfolder, you can configure a .htaccess file and place it in the root of the public_html folder.

@olek4: I used the autoinstaller, FTP did not work for me, I'm using CyberDuck and I am able to get connected to the server, but was unsuccessful with trying to actually connect to the site.

I have not had an .htaccess file from the beginning.

I am now able to connect via http://www.freespiritsmusic.com/here, but have been unsuccessful transfering to the main directory of http://www.freespiritsmusic.com.

Any info on this is greatly appreciated, thank you!!

got it working. went to "File Manager" on my cPanel and voila, everything was there. Followed the instructions at http://codex.wordpress.org/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory. There was no need for my FTP in the first place.

    Thank you!
