[resolved] WP message alerts to my authors have FROM field of my default domain (1 post)

Problem: the internal messages that WordPress sends to my users have the FROM field of my web host account, not FROM either WordPress or the name of my blog. Users have the option to receive email alerts when there is a new post or comment. My web host says the answer lies with WP software and they cannot help with third-party apps.

The message header looks like this:

    from default-username@host351.hostmonster.com
    reply-to "blog-username@yahoo.com" <blog-username@yahoo.com>
    to my-email@gmail.com

subject [SUBJECT OF POST!] Comment: "quoted material"

My blog is setup as a second domain, not a subdirectory, and is not related at all to the other domain. I think the FROM field should be my email for the blog, or at least say "wordpress". Obviously, the default-username is <i>unknown</i> to my blog authors. Do you know how to change this? Someone said I might have to edit the php.ini file, but I couldn't even find it and I don't have the coding ability to do that.

Thanks very much. I appreciate any advice. I'm been looking for a solution for a week.
