• I’m actually on 2.8.5 but there’s no option for that in the drop-down πŸ™‚

If I go to the dashboard and locate a comment in Recent Comments, hover, select “Reply”, do so and attempt to publish it – it always seems to vanish. It took me a while to realise that WP (or perhaps Akismet?) is flagging anything I post in this manner as spam.

I don’t get this problem if I post on the web site itself, only via the Recent Comments tool.

Similarly, I often find I have to approve my own comments on the main “Comments” page if I reply to someone there.

Obviously, in both of these situations, I’m logged in!

Are you using the Recaptcha plugin? I believe it has a bug that does exactly this.

tellyworth – thanks. Just disabled reCAPTCHA and tested it. No false spam detection. Ah well, at least I know what’s causing it now!
