I built a new wordpress website in a folder on my client's website. Her old website was a Joomla website. The hosting is linux.

In the past, all I had to do was to take the files from the wordpress directory and put them in the www directory, after removing the old website files to a folder.

This has always worked in the past. But when I tried it this time the website lost all of its formatting ie, all the content was listed on the left side of the page. I managed to fix this by leaving a copy of the website in the wordpress folder (as well as in the www folder).

When I go try the website - http://www.walbrookconsulting.ie the website appears. When I try login it with http://www.walbrookconsulting.ie/wp-admin it searches for http://www.walbrookconsulting.ie/wordpress/wp-admin

Aside from helping me to fix it, why did it work in the past, but not work now?

Thank you in advance O, Wise Ones!

  2. You'll have to access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel) and manually change the siteurl and home values back to http://www.walbrookconsulting.ie/wordpress

When you're done, follow this guide to move WordPress.
