   I am trying to install WP on my desktop for research and development.
   I downloaded from the site. FINE
   I unzipped FINE
   Installation all installed except WP
   From the site matrix webgallery I attempted to install again.
   Application parameters: create ne databse
   Database server localhost
   database name wordpress
   username wordpressuser

   I entered unique info from this spot on. Clicked next.

   Received this:
   Microsoft web application gallery
   The source is invalid
   Cannot connect to the database",
   Cannot connect to the database",
   Access denied for user'root'@'localhost'(using passwords: YES)

   What am I missing?
   I have tried this several ways. Leaving it all blank, changing the first couple of items
   to create from existing to get this:
   ---------------------------
   Microsoft Web Application Gallery
   ---------------------------
   The source is invalid.
   Cannot connect to the database ''.
   Cannot connect to the database ''.
   Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

   ---------------------------
   OK
   ---------------------------

   There must be a step I am missing. I have read the instructions from Codex over and over and I am not getting anywhere fast.

   On a related note, I've just added a link to installing WP using EasyPHP to this Codex page. Some Windows users might find EasyPHP a bit easier to deal with.
