WP Install Error with Host Gator (6 posts)

I've attempted multiple times to install Word Press through Host Gator's control panel, both with Fantastico De Luxe and QuickInstall. However, I have yet to be prompted with a log-in area when I go to the address indicated. I've tried clearing cache, using different browsers, uninstalling and resinstalling...any ideas?

Thanks. I've tried that, but it doesn't work, neither does adding /wp-admin. Any other ideas?

I've attempted multiple times to install Word Press through Host Gator's control panel with Fantastico De Luxe, but I can never get the Log In page to appear. Instead, I get the warning:

    Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is
incorrect or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's
    database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?
If you're unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

Well, when I go to Hostgator's Control panel and MySql Databases,
the database listed exactly matches what the Fantastico installation
said it was in the email sent to my inbox. And the username and password are correct.

Using Filezilla, when I open and check the wp-config file, all is correct there also.
I discovered a file named "repair.php", and figured out the URL to open it, and it opened just fine, but said:

"To allow use of this page to automatically repair database problems, please add the following line to your wp-config.php file. Once this line is added to your config, reload this page.

    define('WP_ALLOW_REPAIR', true); "

I did this, and now that page gives me the same error notice:
    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect
or we can't contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host's database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password? Yes
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname? Yes, and I've double checked these on the wp-config file.
Are you sure that the database server is running? I am constantly logged in to Hostgator's Cpanel, and there have checked the Datbase info.

If you're unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you
can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

This is truly frustrating, as nothing seems to be configured wrong, yet I can't log in to start configuring WordPress!
    Can you suggest anything?

I'm with HostGator as well and moments ago tried to recreate this and no problems with auto install from Fantastico. Try their support, you'll be amazed how far they go with this stuff. There must be a glitch with this in Fantastico.
