    Hi there

I recently installed WordPress via the hosting control panel on a Linux server. Didn't have to do much as the database was automatically setup. There now is a default theme under the url, which means i guess I'm ready to roll.

However, I am wondering about the resulting folder setup as when I look at it via FTP.
all the usual WP folders that come under public/html ie wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes and all the php files are not there... instead I get anon_ftp, bin, cgi-bin, conf, erro_docs, httpdocs, pd, private, stats, subdomains, vault_scripts, web_users. Why is that? I know that ultimately I can access php files via the wp admin panel but i'd like to understand if this set up is wrong in some way or why it looks that way... thanks

That's the default file structure for your hosting account. You need to look in your httpdocs folder - you'll find all your website files (& wordpress) in there.

Public/html and httpdocs are 2 different ways hosts set up your root url; both work
