    Hi there,

I have recently installed WP eCommerce and love it but need to know if it will be compatible with PayPals Website Payments Standard. This is the service offered by PayPal that enables you to accept credit card payments through PayPal.

I called PayPal and told them that there are options in the WP eCommerce "settings" under "Payments" that enables you check the relevant payment option you wish to take payments through. In WP eCommerce these options include:

    ChronoPay
    Google Checkout
    PayPal Express Checkout 2.0
    PayPal Payments Standard 2.0
    PayPal Pro 2.0
    Test Gateway

PayPal informed me that if WP eCommerce is configured for PayPal then their Website Payments Standard would work however they asked me to contact WordPress or WP eCommerce to be 100% sure.

My concern is that they refer to it as Website Payments Standard and in WP eCommerce, option 4 is known as Paypal Payments Standard 2.0.

Are they one of the same thing?

    Thanks in advance

    Craig

Craig, can't believe no one ever answered you. Sorry about that. For others who might come along and find this post. Yes, they're the same thing. Recently, in April this year, PayPal released some additional solutions for taking payments. PayPal Payments Advanced is worth a look for sure. It deals with most of the headaches of PCI DSS compliance, which is one advantage of PayPal Standard, and it keeps shoppers on your site which reduces "cart abandonment" where people leave without paying. It does cost $5.00 per month, but that's as low a fee as you're likely to ever see for taking credit cards. Yes, the same 2% - 3% fee still applies on purchases as it does with Standard.
