Can someone please help me with this issue?
For some reason, my website will not display properly in IE7. Last week, I manually installed WordPress 2.6.2 and it works well with FireFox, but it does not show up correctly in IE7.
Could there have been an error with the coding while installing the new version?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't copy and paste from MS Office applications like Word, it adds junky code that IE hates. Repaste your text from a text editor like notepad.

I removed the junky coding and now the posts display properly. However, I am still having problems with the sidebars.
Does anyone know what the problem may be?

I've done a search for "sidebar down IE" and I can't seem to find anything that addresses my problem.
The sidebar and widgets can be seen on my site when you view the posts pages on IE7, but on the main index page they do not show up.
Why does the sidebar appear on the blog post pages but not on the main index?
Can anyone help me with this problem?

There must be some crappy code in all that sidebar portion that IE doesn't like. If you look at the source code, it is there, just doesn't display... and there can be lots of reasons for that.
