What does the message below mean? This is the second WordPress website I have tried to install this plugin and I get the same warning message.

Your backup folder MIGHT be visible to the public

To correct this issue, move the .htaccess file from wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager to /home8/arizong1/public_html/test/wp-content/backup-db

    Thanks

There is a htaccess.txt file in the plugin folder. Rename it to .htaccess and move it to backup-db

    Rename htaccess.txt in /test/wp-content/wp-dbmanager/

to .htaccess and move it to /test/wp-content/backup-db/

I have moved/pasted/renames htaccess to the ../backup-db folder and still get the warning message about the folder being visible to the public.
    Any suggestions.

I have completed the steps for the fix mentioned here (and in other threads on this subject), but am still seeing this warning. I've also emptied my browser cache, to no avail.

In addition, since changing and moving the .htaccess the cystats counter for my blog seems to have stopped functioning. It now reads 0 visitors whereas 2 hours ago it read 76.

Is this plug in necessary for the site to function or can it be deactivated without breaking the blog?

Even if there is no htaccess or htaccess file, it will not affect ANY files or functionality of your site. It is very standalone.
