Isn't it about time WP had a way to change the config via a file instead of only the admin area ? I realize there is a config file but you can't change any DB/URL items.

If a url changes or you relocate the WP dir you have to do it in the Admin before you move, if you forget you have to go to the database to update it. Would be better if the info was contained in the config file for easy updating.

Better not. "Easy updating" via admin interface would mean a world writable config-file and everybody would forget(!) to change back the permissions and all the hackers would have holiday by reading your username, password etc...

well that is true for any config file, just put in the README file in big giant letters to change the permissions. I can understand for security purposes, still a pain sometimes lol

Incidently, how could a hacker get to a config file if there's an index.html how would they find it ? I was always curious about that usually if its in a folder with an index I thought nobody could access
