    Hi Maeve Lander

    my site: http://eva-beauty-cosmetics.com/

After reading the ratings for plugin wp catalog, i thought this would be ideal for for me as i want to develop a catalog and then somehow export product info and images to PDF.

However, i have had problems with this plugin, products will not display, and all my categories that i setup prior to installing wp catalog, do not work now – no product categories show. And after reading some support posts here, that you have answered, such as the permalinks advice/resolution you gave to someone on here, i took the advise and tampered with the permalinks, thinking that might get the wp catalog working, and am not sure if this has messed things up with my product categories. My site is now live, and this problem with categories not showing is not good for business.

Is there any way of resetting the permalinks to how it was originally?

Can you tell me how i can get my categories working again?

Also, please could you advise, how i could get this wp catalog to work?

All i want it to do is to show all products in columns of 3 or 4, just like it demonstrates in the advertisement for the wp catalog plugin.

Thanks in advance Maeve, for your help and attention to this matter.

    Paul.

Hi Paul, I’ve checked your link but cannot see where the WP Catalogue is in use. Please can you direct me to the correct page where you’re using the WP Catalogue?

Also you have mentioned a lot of issues and it is not very clear… I’ve done my best to answer what queries I can below. But I think you may need to rephrase your post in a more organised way and with some more details about each problem so that I can understand what you’re talking about and try to help you better.

    1. WO Catalogue does not export products and images to PDF. It is a purely an online catalogue.

    2. You wrote

“all my categories that i setup prior to installing wp catalog, do not work now – no product categories show”.

Do you mean that you set up products in the Categories area of your WordPress dash? Or in some other plugin? WP Catalogue does not overwrite that data, nor does it suck it in and display it in the catalogue… it is a totally separate functionality and area in your WP Dash where you need to add your products and categories and build you catalogue.

    3. It looks to me that you are using WooCommerce for your shop. WP Catalgoue is not an eCommerce plugin – you can’t sell stuff with it. Its just for displaying products. Also I don’t think running the two at the same time is neccessary, and it probably could break things because they are both built using custom post type.

    4. You can reset your permalinks at any time via Settings > Permalinks.

    5. Categories working…. I think maybe you are talking about categories in WooCommerce now right?

    Hi Maeve

“Do you mean that you set up products in the Categories area of your WordPress dash? Or in some other plugin? Maeve, I deactivated the WP Catalogue, as per advice from an IT support person at Hostgator. After i ended the call with the Hostgator support person, i deactivated the plugin, and immediately after I did this, all my categories started to work again – yaaay! The IT support person did mention that it’s a very high level assumption to make that newly installed plugins won’t mess up other things in wordpress. I could never get the WP Catalogue to work at all, one bit, so i find it strange as to how this plugin has been highly rated, i’ve read posts here written by others who have experienced problems with the WP catalogue. the wp catalogue plugin is really user unfriendly in my opinion.

Anyway, thanks for getting back to me, i appreciate your prompt reply to say he least.

    Paul
