is wp cache safe to use with wp 2.1.2? it appears a lot of people report issues when they attempt to install and maintain this plugin?

I use it with no issues.

Using the current version is generally a good idea.

thank you for the advice. before I install the plugin, I read that wp 2.1.2 has an inbuilt caching feature that needs to be disabled before installing wp-cache. Is that correct?

I attempted to install wp-cache and received this error message:

    -------------------------

    advanced-cache.php link does not exist
    Create it by executing:
    ln -s /home/mac/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/wp-cache/wp-cache-phase1.php /home/mac/public_html/blog/wp-content/advanced-cache.php
    in your server

Cannot continue... fix previous problems and retry.

    -------------------------

    Any ideas?

    Could you please clarify, HandySolo?

worpdress, you (or your host) must run that command on your server. It's done via the terminal in secure shell. It's all one line and all you have to do is copy and paste and hit enter.

Yep, what fitztrev said. You need to run that ln command.

wp-cache is now installed and running. Could anyone offer advice on configuring the wp-cache page or should I simply leave as is? Thanks.

The default expiry time on wp-cache is 3600 sec. Will it help to increase this time or could that have detrimental effects?

    Can I use this:

    define('DISABLE_CACHE', true);

    in wp-config.php with 2.1.2?

From what I've read on this forum, caching in 2.1.2 has been known to cause problems (cpu load, etc.)

Can it be disabled? Is it really all that necessary?

    ???
