   Whenever I create a new post or edit an existing one, the server on my hosting becomes unresponsive for several minutes. I can only assume that the web server has crashed. I'm using WP 1.5.1.1 and 1&1 is my provider. I have a few plugins that deal with editing, but I disabled them and it still crashes.

   Any ideas?

   Does this "stall" only happen when you post entries, or does it happen when you do other things as well?

   If only during posting and possibly editing, then go into Options->Writing and see what you have under Update Services. The more places you have to ping, the longer it is going to take to post your entries.

   By default, it might be going to rpc.pingomatic.com. Remove it and see if your posts go faster.

   I have noticed that it doesn't happen when I edit a draft entry. I removed the Pingomatic entry, and the stall still occurs.

   More info: I copied my site over to another host (Dreamhost) and it has the same problem.
