• Hello,
As written on the title I have a wordpress installation where the wp-admin folder is password protected directly from plesk.

Until now I had no problems with any plugin.

Since I installed and activated the plugin woocommerce, every page I visit (when i am log out) I get the popup asking for the password to enter on wp-admin.

I ask you, to use the plugin do I have to unprotect the folder?
Is there a way for the plugin to be able to overcome control?

I want to continue to keep the wp-admin folder protected because the web site was hacked in the past.
Thanks in advance to those who answer me;)

Password protecting that folder doesn’t give you that much more protection. It only adds one more door for hackers to open. If they can get into your admin backend with brute force, they can do it twice. As long as you have a strong secured password on the WP login, you should be fine. And follow the best practices to passwords such as changing it monthly…etc. But this is just my opinion.

The reason why you didn’t encounter issues with other plugins is that other plugins were probably not calling any functions from the admin section such as AJAX calls.

Thanks Splash! I think i delete password protecting folder and make a strong password for admin log in 😉
