• Tried everything possible, but the media uploader still doesn’t work. It worked for about one or two times after I disabled plugins, but soon went back to not working.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Twelve theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    What worked for me….

I tried the solution suggested in a related thread, adding “define(‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false );” to the wp-cconfig.php script, and that didn’t seem to do anything.

WHAT DID WORK: I went into the Media editor and made a minor change to the graphic file (I’m not having any trouble uploading, just inserting into posts) and saved (clicked UPDATE).

Then I tried inserting again. The new interface took its time, compared to the previous release, but IT DID WORK after 30-45-60 seconds.

This has worked three times, so I’m passing it along and hope it helps someone.

    Cheers,
    Art

I am experiencing the same issue here. Can’t insert an image to a post. I can upload jpgs fine but still having trouble inserting…..

Same problem. I cannot set a featured image or insert galleries. When I try it takes me to the media uploader but there is no way to insert it in to a post. When I insert a gallery shortcode (Showxase plugin) the photos do not show up in my post.

I’ve tried every browser and 4 completely separate wordpress installs. I’ve turned off all the plugins and tried switching to the default theme. Tried on:
    http://www.vortexine.com
    http://www.luxxulart.com
    http://www.minabastphotography.com
    http://www. tehbraincandy.com

If any of you were having sudden WordPress featured imgage/ insert media problems, I got around it by restoring my database to before the 15th. Somehow worked without reverting to previous version. I would not recommend upgrading to v 3.5 right now. Super buggy. Manage Backup Database is a really good plugin to run for these situations too, fyi.

So I’m having the same problems here. I’ve disabled all plugins and flushed all caches on the browser. Went back to a page to add an image, clicked the media button, got the UI to pop open the lightbox (bad choice of UI for this interaction by the way guys)…dragged my image in there, and it uploaded and inserted into the page fine. Updated the published page. Went back to the page to add another image, now the UI is broken. Clicking the add media button no longer works. NOTHING has changed other than what I did above. This is a HUGE problem and I hope to God someone is coding hard and furious right now…I’d set this as a P0 bug.

    @artc1209 Your one worked!

Great! Glad it worked on someone else’s system too.

I’m making a WAG that the problem is in the database because

    1. The minor change is forcing a new commit to the database.
    2. And that would tie in with LuxXul’s suggestion to roll back the database to a previous rev…

Well, I am using theme 2012 with WP3.5, subdomain folder “blog” under my site.
I activated only one plugin, “Jetpack”.

    1. uninstall WP and reinstall it again.

    2. I use FTP, go to wp-content, add .old to the “plugins” folder. Now it looks like “plugins.old”. A thread said to disable plugins if that may be the problem.
It works for me after disable the “plugins”. I turned the “plugins” back on and the problem reoccurs again. I tried to turn on each plugin but it only works if I disable the whole plugins. So I turn the plugins back the way it was since I don’t have much knowledge of coding.
So still can’t insert image. (take two night qual and went to bed with a bad flu + searching for solutions all day ).

    3. I empty cache and history in Safari. I added a couple more services from Jetpack to my blog, made a test to see if I could insert images, and it works.
The “plugins” are still active just like the was it was downloaded. I really don’t know which step actually helps the issue, but hope this may help you with the image inserting trouble. Or someone from WP already fixed the issue.

i disable all plugins and it worked, in the end was a fucking plugin (wp_rss_import)

tried @artc1209 suggestions (both of them) but find that when I go into the media editor I can’t make any changes. Won’t allow me to save and then gives an error message that it is not uploaded. Also, I couldn’t upload at all in the post itself. Had to upload via the manager (at least it let me put it on there) and manually insert the html code into the post.

Thumbnail is not showing up on my theme though, which is annoying since it is on my homepage, but will hopefully live with that until there is an update via WP. Tried so many proposed fixes (plugins, cache etc) but none are working and don’t feel like a rollback hassle right now. Bummer to see such a big release cause such a major issue. Seems to be for many folks too.
