    Hi Folks,

I am facing similar problems that have been reported widely around pagination in archives and tags. I tried every fix I could find on the web so far including reverting permalinks to default, refreshing the .htaccess file, and two plugins I found that were made to address the issue.

Mine however seems a little different then what I have seen reported. One because reverting to default permalinks does not solve the issues, and two it works with some archives and not with others. So the 1st page of every archive works, and then I have varying success moving backwards until I reach a 404.

For instance I know the below category has 7 posts. 4 are displayed on the first page, but when you click older posts I get a 404.

The below tag has 18 records but only displays 3 pages of 4 each and then delivers a 404.

Any idea's what could be going on folks? Appreciate any help you can offer.

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Oups sorry only saw this post now fabong.

I had changed my Archive.php to only display 4 posts per page but forgot to update the setting under Settings > Reading > Blog pages show at most = 4 under the admin problem.

Hopes this helps and sorry again for the delay.
