None of the drop down menus in the left sidebar of the admin section are opening in Chrome 2.0.172.31

Try deactivating all plugins and check to see if this resolves the problem. If it does, activate the plugins one by one - checking the Admin menus after each re-activation - until you find the problematic plugin(s).
