   It would be extremely handy and should be easy to implement the crop function that's associated with thumbnails to the medium image as well.

   This is already a working feature :D
   There just isn't possibility to crop to exact size.

   That would be awesome.

   I've been messing around, and I found the crop funtions for thumbnail images in the file wp-includes/media.php, maybe you can do some changes there?

   I would also love to crop my photos to 1:1.618 (golden ratio).
