WowWay Newbie Theme Help? (7 posts)

Trying out this very attractive WowWay theme. It comes with instructions, but they still assume a level of skill I'm lacking. So I have a lot of newbie question such as:

To create a logo, it says in the Appearance - Theme Options panel: "Upload a logo for your site. It should be around 125x35, for the best results."

I assume this means 125x35 pixels. I also assume you create such a logo in a program like Photoshop.
--I create a canvas at this size and insert some text at 72 dpi and it comes out very pixilated so I created a larger one. Save it as a JPG file.
--In the Theme Options panel I click the upload file button and upload the JPG file.
--It appears in my Media Library, as a Thumbnail (150x146) ....This size seems odd to me as it's not even the aspect ratio of the logo I created.
--The button is offers is "Send to Option Tree" (I'm not sure what an option tree is). I click this and nothing seems to happen.
--I save the changes, but then visiting the size and don't see any logo.

    What am I doing wrong?

These forums only support themes from here:

So you'll need to ask the developer for help with theme-specific questions: http://themeforest.net/item/wowway-interactive-responsive-portfolio-theme/2374321

Thanks, but doesn't some of this apply to any theme?
For instance: Are logos measured in pixels? Are logos created in Photoshop and saved as a JPEG file? Am I even in the ballpark here?

    Thanks

Yes, the logo size means px. And yes, typically photoshop (or something similar) is used. The theme is likely creating different sizes of the image (that's not unusual).

Are you clearing your browser and any site caches after making changes?

I'd still suggest going back to the developer or trying out a default WP theme to see if you have the same kind of problem with header images, etc.

Thanks for the information. I've struggled with mastering the task of creating an image, getting the size right, and having whatever theme I'm using apply it as intended. I will consult with the developer on this. I am using Safari...by clearing site caches do you mean removing cookies from the preferences window?

There's also "clear history" in Safari.

These might also be helpful - just for generic WP info:
