Can I use WPMU to create sites then move them over to a top level domain (ex. myblog.com)?
I want to use MU as a developer platform, then when the site is done move it to a new home.
Will this work?

It can, just be aware that when you export the site from MultiSite (please don't call it WPMU ;) ) it just does posts and stuff. NOT widget settings etc.
