    Hello!

    Great Questions!

YES – your hosting is separate from buying a premium theme. It’s actually better that way because you have complete control over your own domain.

Buying your own domain is always a great idea!

Yes – the widgets and ability to add posts and pages are all normal in any theme I’ve seen.

Yes that’s the great thing about getting a premium domain over a free one. They have features that let you easily change the colors and such. I think I paid about $70 for that theme and it was easily worth every penny.

I made all 3 of those websites I listed using that same theme… and the support I’ve gotten for it has been really good as well.

FlamingPixels is an interesting name. I’m just curious are you into design or art or something?

I just checked – here’s a link directly to the Fresh News Theme. http://bit.ly/oNEqGo – I think it was about $70 when I got it and if I recall it came with 2 other themes.

If you have any more questions – you can reach me through my website. http://familybusinesstips.com

I also do a lot of posts there on WordPress blogging with tons of content already there.

Wow thanks for the urgent response!
can you please give thoughts on my plans:
I would like to host to godaddy.com cause it has autoinstall of WP,
then Ill buy the Freshnews buy woo theme. Is it correct?

Check the showcase section on the WooThemes website to see some good examples of what people have done with the theme.

    Yes I have checked thanks,
As I am still new, im just planning to use wordpress.com and buy my domain at godaddy.com and just add that domain to my blog,
is this ok for a beginner? any tips please?
    Thanks!

Hi I have already bought the theme and have bought a domain hosted by wordpress.com. the domain now is [please post only links to self-hosted sites running wordpress.org]

Also in the future can I transfer my site to lets say hostgator? and host it there? will my contents be transferred successfully along with my domain? can you please tell me the concepts if its possible. but at the moment im loving my theme now .

    hoping for your tips!^^

Sorry I went to bed – it was 1AM here when we were talking.

Hey – This is Joe from the WordPress Forum.

Yes – using Godaddy is good. The autoinstall is nice and makes it easy.
When you get your Theme at http://bit.ly/oNEqGo you will be able to download it as a zip file.

You don’t even need to unzip it.

    1. To install a theme in your WordPress dashboard just go to “Appearance” and click “Themes”
    2. From the Theme Page click the “Install Theme” tab.
    3. From the “Install Theme” tab you just click “upload” and browse to find your zip file.
    4. You’ll see some messages as it uploads, extacts, etc… when it’s done you’ll see an option that says “ACTIVATE”. Be sure to activate your new theme.
    5. Your theme is now installed… Now you’ll see a new “FreshNews” option in your dashboard. Be sure to go there and choose your “theme color scheme”, upload a custom logo etc… all on that page.

Thanks for the tip premiumwp! I’ll check it out.

Hey premiumwp – those are all fairly customized installations of Fresh News. I was looking for something closer to seeing what people were able to do without hiring a developer.

My http://familybusinesstips.com site is pretty vanilla and it looks great. I didn’t hire a developer to do anything.

That’s why I’ve been so impressed with this theme.

Still – I’d love to hear from other real people out there using this theme to see what they’ve done with it. Thanks for pointing out that option, I never even saw it till you mentioned it.

Hi Joe thanks for the response, also were all your site using the fresh news theme hosted by worpress.com and not .org?
    Cause I have read :
“Note: Premium Themes are customized for WordPress.com usage only, and cannot be transferred to self-hosted WordPress.org “
Btw, here’s my site now im still costumizing it http://theflamingpixel.com/

also when I try to disable the top header search bar, the post boxes gets cut in half meaning I now have 2 columns of post in smaller boxes. what I wanna do is I want all my post previews to be just fixed width and maybe all post have thumbnails that are aligned to the left of the post intro and not on top of it and eating much space.can you please give me tips?

here’s some screenshots of the problem, this also happens when I change my theme color T_T

when I changed my theme color to green the boxes were cut

For bennefit of everyone else, I had answered flame in an email, but wanted to come back to the forum to make it public.

Yes – I am hosting my own wordpress with my own hosting company. Personally I think everyone should do it this way.

There’s a special setting in Fresh News that lets you adjust how many posts show full width before splitting to 2 collumn. From your WordPress dashboard click the ‘Fresh News’ tab. On the left you’ll see a tab labeled ‘Layout’ – click it.

Now set the “Home Featured Posts” to the number of posts you want to share Full Width.

Disabling the search has nothing to do with the issue you were experiencing that’s just a coincidence.

Was the issue with the boxes being cut resolved?

Hi- I have a question about the slider in Fresh News theme. Can I have it feature pages instead of posts? Thank!!

    Thread Starter Joseph Shaw

    (@jshaw5000)

    Wendy,

As far as I know you can’t. You have to be able to add a TAG that tells wordpress to feature this content in the slider.

As a work around. You can make a post that is featured (like normal). Then you could create a page with the same name (so you get a link up in your navigation bar up top)… then you can tell wordpress to forward any traffic to that page directly to the post.

You can either manually edit your .htaccess file to create the forward or use something like the Simple301Redirects plugin to forward from the page to that post.

Here’s a link to a video that shows how to do a simple 301 redirect.
    http://bit.ly/AxOBiG

If you do this… it will allow you to have the slider show a graphic featuring the post, and have a link up top that shows the page… but behind the scenes if people click on the link to the page they get forwarded to the post. It’s all invisible to the user.

This may sound complicated but is really easy to do.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you Jason, I appreciate the quick response. One more question for you- Is there anyway to have a page show up in the navigation bar without having the title on the page? I have logos at the top of the page with the name and to have the name above that just looks stupid but if I remove the title it doesn’t show up on my navigation bar. Any ideas?? Thank you.

    Sorry, Joseph..not Jason
