worse video quality in sidebar (7 posts)

Halo I have a problem with my blog http://www.robimichel.com

I have a Video in my sidebar. It is pretty much the most important thing of my blog, so it has to be in highest quality possible.

I have uploaded it with full Hd 1920/1080 mp4 format. And on my host (vimeo) the video does look great, but in my sidebar it looks horrible it's all blurry. It is too small, because when I zoom to the Video (strg+scroll) than the video becomes sharper and better as bigger it gets.

it is a problem with pixel density i guess. Do you know, how I can have the video also in it's normal size (so pretty small) in the best and highest quality? It is very important, that this video has this good quality.

Should I upload it with less pixels to my host? Are there like to many pixless of the video? or is it a problem of the pixel density of my blog?

Is there a chance, that my video looks 100% sharp and HD with the size it has right now in the sidebar? Ond if it is, how can I get this quality?

Thank you so much for your help

My guess is that the video is being resized via markup/CSS to fit into your sidebar - which is never a good idea. You need to post it as its original size. Probably within your layout's main content area instead of the sidebar.

So is there no chance, that I can make the video better quality in the sidebar? The Video is embed in the side bar in a opt in form.

I really have to find a way to make the video look better in the sidebar.

But thanks a lot for your help :)

No - not if you want to keep it in that sidebar. It's being constrained to a width of 217px or less. A better way to approach this would be to add the video to a static Page and then link to that page using an image/screenshot of the video in the sidebar.

FWIW, it looks quite good on my computer -- Mac Book Air. You could possibly change the size of the sidebar so it does not get resized.

@esmi: But why is it in good quality than, when I zoom the website? When I zoom it than it looks good.

@wpyogi. Does it? But it does look also better when you zoom the page? doesn't it?

The quality is poor initially because the video is being resized by the browser and browsers never do a good job at resizing anything.
